Welcome to the LondonGamers picture gallery

If this is your first time here, please read the following or just skip to the bottom of the page.

On the old LondonGamers site there were over 360 photos (double if you include the thumbnails) spread over approx 25 gallery pages. As you can imagine maintaining and finding these images was getting harder and more time consuming as the site grew.

As an excercise for myself I have re-written the way photos are displayed (* tech note: This section is powered using SQLserver 7 database, and uses a combination of HTML, CSS, ASP, javascript, stored procedures, cookies and session variables). Overkill for a hobby site, but it was an excercise.

In plain English, you need to have Javascript enabled and Cookies enabled (This is for members who want to sign in). To be frank if you have either switched off then you will have trouble with most sites on the web. What are Cookies? Aren't they those bad things, which 'spy on you'? Well no, click HERE if you want to learn more and put to rest some of those urban myths about cookies.

Now all you need to do is go to the search or click one of the buttons below and pick a category want to view. It will now be displayed on only one page. If there are more than 20 photos to view, then a number of pages will be dynamically created. Like before, each thumbnail will open a javascript popup window to display the full image. If the image is over 800 pixels wide then instead of a popup window, code is written to display that image on a separate page so you can scroll left and right. Each thumbnail will have under it

  • = Tells you who owns/painted the figure.
  • Modify = For members only, you can change the description of your own pictures and/or club pictures.
  • 35kb = The size of image.
  • Category/Sub category = Area the photos are stored e.g. WFB/Dwarfs.
  • Desc = Brief description about the photo (limited to 200 chars)

Below are some quick links to different categories, alternatively you can do an advanced search and narrow down what you are looking for by clicking search in the side menu.

These pages work best in IE 4+. They also work in NS too (just they don't look as pretty). However, if you do come across a problem then I would appreciate some feedback so I can hopefully fix it. Report a problem.
